Build your skills with SPARC’s performing arts training classes led by some of Richmond’s leading theatre artists.

SPARC offers training classes and audition-based performance opportunities for young theatre artists in the fall, winter/spring, and summer. We also have specialty Master Classes throughout the year to perfect your craft!

FINAL SHOWCASE Our spring semester will conclude with a final showcase performance at Libby S. Gottwald Playhouse at the Dominion Arts Center. You’ll be able to say you’ve performed on the same stage as many of Richmond’s most popular professional actors!

Classes for Grades 8 – 12

In Musical Theatre Dance Training you’ll study with three different professional choreographers while building skills and learning original and new choreography from classic and contemporary hit musicals.

COST: $396 1.5 hours per week for 12 weeks ( January 15 – April 21)

Grades: 8 – 12


  • Mondays, 5:45 – 7:15pm at SPARC

In Vocal Training and Audition Prep, a professional music director will guide each student in learning and perfecting an array of musical theatre songs that they can add to their portfolio. Topics will also include audition tips!

COST: $396 1.5 hours per week for 12 weeks (January 15 – April 21)

GRADES: 8 – 12


  • Wednesdays, 4:30 – 6:00pm at SPARC

Acting Techniques focus on a different acting technique each semester, ranging from Chekhov to Meisner to Stanislavski and more. This semester, students will learn Uta Hagen’s approach through her book, Respect for Acting.

COST: $396 1.5 hours per week for 12 weeks (January 15 – April 21)

Grades: 8 – 12

Legally Blonde The Musical JR.

Harvard’s beloved blonde takes the stage by glittery pink storm in this fun and upbeat adaptation of the hit film and award-winning Broadway musical!


AUDITION DAYS, TIMES & LOCATION: Auditions for this performance training program will be held Saturday, December 2 from 1 – 4:30pm & Tuesday, December 5 from 4:30 – 8:30pm at SPARC.

DIRECTING TEAM: Deejay Gray (Director), Anthony Smith (Music Director), and Mallory Keene (Choreographer)

GRADES: 6 – 12

REHEARSALS: Tuesdays & Thursdays 4:30-6:30PM, January 9th – March 29th, 2018 

TECH: April 8th – 12th, 2018

PERFORMANCES: April 13-15 & 20-22, 2018

COST: Auditions are free, but the cost for this performance training program is $596 for those cast.
