JENNIE BROWN (Executive Director) Appointed SPARC's executive director in 1998, she
had previously served as associate director. Jennie taught acting and speech to young people and
adults for VCU, Theatre IV, Richmond Parks & Recreation, and Stage Center Theatre prior to joining
SPARC in 1981. A founding member of the acting faculty, she has led the school though a period of
transition and rapid expansion, focusing on improving the quality of the curriculum, the faculty, and
programs. She worked to develop SPARC's flexible and graduated curriculum to serve the needs of
the serious artist, as well as the novice performer. Jennie has steered the school toward serving a
broader population with outreach and after school programs. As a performer, she has worked in North
Carolina and Georgia and has extensive credits on the Richmond stage. Jennie has also appeared in
numerous local and regional radio and television commercials, as well as industrial films. She holds a
BA in Drama and Speech from Mary Washington College and an MFA in Theatre from Virginia
Commonwealth University. In 2003, she was honored as the YWCA's Woman of the Year in Arts.
DEBRA CLINTON (Acting) has taught theater and speech at LaGuardia College in Queens and ran the performing arts program at Asphalt Green Day Camp in Manhattan. One of the founders of SPARC's SummerStarz and SPARC On Tour programs and helped create the BRAVO! Camp. In addition to summer stock in New York, Maine, New Hampshire, and Ohio, Debra has been featured locally at Barksdale, Theatre IV and Swift Creek Mill. She holds a BFA from Emerson College and an MFA from VCU, and is a member of Actors' Equity. Deb also runs the SummerStarz Touring Ensemble each summer.
DAVID SENNETT (Acting) A member of SAG and Equity, David has extensive credits as both actor and director in New York and in regional theaters. Most recently, he was a guest artist at Christopher Newport University, where he played Prospero in Shakespeare’s The Tempest. He has played principal roles on NBC's Law and Order and PBS's Powerhouse, and has made numerous other film and TV appearances. David has taught and coached privately in New York, at the University of Iowa, and at Youngstown State University. Locally, he was the founding Artistic Director of Richmond Ensemble Theatre, was a guest artist with the Barksdale Theatre, and was an Associate Artist of TheatreVirginia. David trained at ANTA/National Theatre Conservatory and holds an MFA in Theater from VCU.
ERIN THOMAS-FOLEY (Acting, Dance) is among Richmond's busiest acting talents. Locally she has appeared
with The Firehouse Theatre, Theatre IV, and Barksdale Theatre, among others. She appeared in the HBO
film, Iron Jawed Angels, and was featured in Barksdale's Proof, To Kill A Mockingbird and Cyrano de
Bergerac. In addition, Erin has performed with Blue Ridge Theatre Festival's International Festival in
Romania. Erin has a BFA in Theater from Longwood University and an MFA in Theater from VCU. She
serves as SPARC's program coordinator and leads the summer BRAVO! Camp.
LAINE SATTERFIELD (Acting, Dance) has performed in and created theatre in New York City, Scotland, Itlay, Denmark, Idaho and Virginia. Some favorite roles include: Ariel in The Tempest, Paulina in Death and the Maiden, Morgan Le Faye in Morgana, Elena in Uncle Vanya, multiple roles in the Public Theatre's production of Book of the Dead, and most recently, Lady MacBeth in MacBeth. She has taught at Stella Adler Conservatory in NYC, L'Universita dell'Aquila outside Rome, and various physical theatre workshops around the country. A graduate of Tisch School o fthe Arts (Stella Adler Conservatory), she also trained at Carnegie-Mellon University, University of Eurasian Theatre, University College of London, and with Eugenio Barba, Yoshi Oida, Rusty Wilson and many others. She is a member of Actor's Equity Association, and Linea Trasverssale, the international theatre network. Local credits include roles with Barksdsale Theatre & Firehouse Theatre.
CHRISTINE WALTERS (Comedy Improv) has been teaching, directing and performing improvisational comedy for ten years with ComedySportz, an internationally produced show with 18 troupes in the U.S. and two in the U.K. In 1996, she opened ComedySportz in Richmond, and now owns and operates Comedysportz Improv Theatre. She holds a BS in Corporate Communications from Southern Connecticut State University and has taught improv in Richmond, Quad Cities IL, Washington D.C., and at the University of Texas.
