Our voices help to tell the story of who we are, where we’re from, and how we see the world.  It’s no wonder, then, that accent and dialect work is such a fundamental part of developing a character for the stage!  In this workshop we will explore our own voices to discover what makes them so unique.  We will identify the essential qualities that compose a stage dialect, and the best methods for successfully incorporating dialect into a performance.  Finally, we will put our discoveries into practice as we play with the sounds and shapes of the Standard British and Cockney British dialects.  Students will gain a strong understanding of how to work with accents and dialects, and immediately applicable experience with two of the most in-demand dialects for both musical and dramatic theatre!
