Frequently Asked Questions

QUESTION: My child has never done theater before. Is this the right camp to start with?

ANSWER: Yes! This is the perfect place to start. We make it a goal to work individually with each student depending on their experience or comfort level. We may have a student who likes performing arts but really doesn't want too much solo work on stage. We make it work! We may have a student who has been to BRAVO for several years and wants new challenges. We make it happen! It is important that each student have the best possible experience based on his/her needs.

QUESTION: Is lunch provided at camp?

ANSWER: Each student should plan to bring lunch to camp each day.

QUESTION: What is my child expected to bring to camp?

ANSWER: Students should plan to bring a three-ring folder with pockets, and two pencils with erasers, plus lunch every day. We do not recommend bringing valuables to camp. Students may want to bring a sweatshirt or jacket in case it gets chilly in the various rooms we work in. Throughout camp we will have "themed days" such as Pajama Day, or Crazy Hair Day, and students will be encouraged to wear fun costumes or clothing if they wish to. Lastly, they may be required to bring in any additional art supplies to enhance projects they are working on.

QUESTION: What should my child wear to camp?

ANSWER: Each student should wear comfortable clothes which will allow them to move and dance. Often activities and choreography will involve movement on the floor. Students may wish to keep an extra old shirt in their lockers to put on during art activities. Proper shoes are mandatory: No flip flops, no high heels, no boots or sandals (unless designated as costume pieces in the show). Tennis shoes or sports shoes are best. No shirts that show mid rifs and no low rise pants, shorts or jeans. No tank tops with spaghetti straps or bra straps showing.

QUESTION: If we have a family vacation scheduled during BRAVO, will that affect my child's participation in the show?

ANSWER: We are willing to work around family conflicts to the best of our ability. Each absence is handled on a case by case basis. Factors for consideration are: how much time will be missed, where in the schedule the absences occur, and the performers ability to learn and retain the blocking/choreography missed while absent. We encourage students to pick a "buddy" to help write down and teach anything that was missed. In other cases, we may assign understudy roles. BRAVO! instructors reserve the right to re-assign material due to a high volume of absences.

QUESTION: Is there pro-rated tuition if we miss days of camp?

ANSWER: No, there is pro-rated option available.

QUESTION: What if I realize I need to bring my child to extended daycare after camp has already begun?

ANSWER: You may sign up for extended day hours after camp has begun but the cost remains the same whether you start at the beginning of camp or after camp has started.

QUESTION: May we videotape the performance at the end of camp?

ANSWER: Yes, you can. We ask that you come a bit early and set your video camera up in a place that will not block the view of other audience members.

QUESTION: Will you be selling a video of the show after camp?

ANSWER: No, we will not.

QUESTION: If I like my child's head shot and wish to purchase more copies can I do that?

ANSWER: Yes. We will provide the name and contact information of the photographer and you may contact the photographer to arrange more pictures.
