“AKA” Senior Director of Development
Candace joined the SPARC team in August 2011 and is primarily responsible for managing SPARC’s community relationships and engaging donors to ensure ongoing support of SPARC’s programs–including LIVE ART, STAGES and New Voices for the Theater – the Annual Giving fund and Endowment. As a senior leader for the organization, Candace also helps to manage the organizational culture including the values and behaviors that contribute to the unique social environment of SPARC. Candace is herself a SPARC alumna and parent and has a wealth of experience in nonprofit fundraising, having formerly served as Executive Director and Vice President of Development for the American Heart Association in Richmond and Charlottesville, Virginia.
Candace is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Central Virginia Chapter and holds a certificate in Fundraising & Development from the University of Richmond’s Institute on Philanthropy. Candace is a former participant and current Associate Director of the nationally recognized Moose Management Academy which helps nonprofit organizations engage more funding from major donors while making their donors’ lives ever more fulfilling.
She also has extensive experience in event and volunteer management and studied Business Administration at Meredith College in Raleigh, North Carolina.
Candace serves on the ACTS (Area Congregations Together in Service) Board of Directors and Development Committee, the Ashland Open Doors fundraising committee and the Hanover Tavern Foundation Board of Directors. Her proudest development project is raising her two daughters, Chaney and Ruby.
