Danaë is a native of the San Francisco Bay Area. Danaë danced professionally with the Richmond Ballet and Oakland Ballet until her retirement in 2009. Highlights of her career include Puck in Bill Soleau’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, both female leads in John Butler’s Carmina Burana, and the title role in Agnes DeMille’s A Rose for Miss Emily. Since retiring from the Ballet, Danaë has been teaching for SPARC and recently joined as adjunct faculty in the Dance Department at VCU. She enjoys bringing the love of dance and music to all people, so that we may all experience the joy it has to offer.
