Susan Sanford

Susan is thrilled to be returning to SPARC after two years in Charlotte, NC. Susan is an accomplished actor, director, and teacher, having worked in professional theatre for 25 years. A 10-year member of Actor’s Equity Association, Susan has played numerous roles in regional theatres across the country. Notable roles include Rose in Enchanted April (Company of Fools Theatre), Violet in 9 to 5 (CPCC Summer Theatre) and Doris in Miracle on 34th St. (Children’s Theatre of Charlotte). Susan has been nominated for several Richmond Theatre Critics’ Circle Awards, and won for Best Supporting Actress in a Musical for her role of The Baroness in Virginia Rep’s production of The Sound of Music. Directing credits include The Magic Flute, The Song of Mulan, and Ferdinand the Bull, all for Children’s Theatre of Virginia. Her production of Ferdinand was featured in American Theatre magazine. Susan has taught for acting students of all ages, most recently at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte, NC, and has taught every age from 4 years old to middle schoolers here at SPARC. Susan received her MFA in Acting from UNC-Greensboro, and her BFA in Acting from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
