Tess Ottinger is a formal music educator and classical soprano vocalist who began her formal music training at the age of five with private piano lessons. She found her passion for singing early in her educational career and began classical vocal training at age 14. Tess continues to study her craft daily, including through vocal training from voice professors at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). She received her first Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal/Choral Music Education from VCU in 2016, and her second Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Vocal Performance, also from VCU, in 2017. Tess and her colleague opened their own private music studio, Vissi d’Arte Studios, in 2016 and teaches voice and piano to students of all ages. Tess is a member of the Richmond Symphony Chorus and also regularly performs with the VCU Opera and churches around the area, currently a paid soprano at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Petersburg, VA. Tess Ottinger is currently the Production Stage Manager for the 2017-2018 VCU Opera department.
